Can Class III Hitch from 2001 Honda Odyssey Be Installed on 2012 Honda Odyssey

Question:

I have a trailer Class III hitch that was Honda dealer installed on my 2001 Honda Odessey. I now have a 2012 Honda Odessey and I wanted to know if this same hitch which I took off the 2001 Odessey will fit the the 2012? If it will, what hardware do I need to buy from you and is there any shimming needed. If so, is this included in the hardware kit too. I am a eTrailer customer who has purchased your fine products in the past.

Even though the 2001 and 2012 model years of the Honda Odyssey are in different generations of the vehicle (the second and fourth generations, respectively) they can both be fitted with many of the same hitch receivers.

Curt Hitch # C13068 and Draw-Tite # 75270 are Class III 2-inch hitches that will fit both model years of the Odyssey.

You can order correct replacement hardware by entering part # RHK (for Replacement Hardware Kit) in the search box on our site; then enter your hitch part number in the appropriate space and select the hitch brand from the drop-down menu. (This information should be on the hitch's safety/warning sticker.) You will then see the correct hardware kit. You do not want to re-use the old hardware as it is intended to be torqued once.

Hitch installation requires, among other basic tools, a torque wrench to ensure the fasteners are secured to the exact specification indicated by the hitch manufacturer in the instructions. Once you know your hitch number you can locate the installation instructions on our site to help you install the hitch correctly in your 2012 Odyssey. Since these hitches are a confirmed fit for both vehicles you should not have to do any shimming or depart at all from the manufacturer installation instructions.
