Why Won't Trailer Hitch Install Bolts Thread into Vehicle Frame
Question:
I purchased the e98907 for my 2015 Nissan Murano. It seems the bolts that came with the hitch are too large to fit into the welded bolts on the frame. Is it possible I need a smaller bolt size to mount the hitch?

This comes up pretty frequently and the issue is that the weld nuts are dirty/corroded and they aren't letting the install hardware thread into them. So you can try a wire brush and WD40 etc. but you're going to find that the only way to fix this is to get a thread tap so that you can use it to clean the threads. For the hitch part # e98907 the correct size tap you'd need is m12.
