Should All Propane Connectors Have Rubber O-Rings To Prevent Leaks
Question:
Should propane connectors have rubber O rings to prevent leaks?

Different fittings require different methods of leak prevention so you won't always have a rubber O-ring on the fitting. For example, if we look at part # MBS77FR we see both a flare and NPT fitting. Using sealant tape # 37207-30025 or putty # 37207-30555 on the flare fitting can actually prevent the fittings from fully sealing together and you'll end up with a leak. On the NPT side not using some sort of sealant will likely allow a leak. POL fittings, like the # 204037-MBS you were looking at, will have an O-ring to help seal it into the other fitting and prevent leaks.
Each fitting style has its own installation requirements so you'll want to ensure you're following their style's guidelines.
