Recommended Blue Ox Base Plate for a 2017 Ram 1500 Bighorn
Question:
I have a Blueox tow bar and am considering purchasing base plates for my 2017 Ram 1500 Bighorn truck. I am not sure which part number fits my truck. Also, which style is best and easiest to install. Thanks!

Since you already have a Blue Ox tow bar you're going to want to install a compatible set of base plates that don't require the use of an adapter. For a 2017 Ram 1500 Bighorn you will want the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BLU74FR. These are custom fit and will connect right up to your tow bar without the use of the adapter.
There's a few other options from other manufacturer's for compatible base plates but they all have the same installation method. There's no advantage to using one of them over the Blue Ox item # BLU74FR.
The Blue Ox item # BX1986 you were looking at does not fit the Bighorn models. Just the Limited and the Tradesman.
Some other parts you will need to flat tow your 2017 Ram 1500 Bighorn are listed below:
Supplemental Braking System - SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 or item # SM99243 if your motorhome has air brakes
Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267 or if you already have the cable you will just need the following parts to connect to your Ram's lights and control them:
Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit item # RM-152
RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector - item # RM-910030-7
Roadmaster Bent Electrical Socket Bracket item # RM-910030-5
