Fit of Inner Grease Seal on Boat Trailer Spindle Using TruRyde Bearing Kit # BK2-100
Question:
Im replacing the hub on my boat trailer, and the kit came with one inner seal installed, and one loose.. the larger i.d. seal was the one not installed. My question is, should i use the seal thats closest to the size of the spindle? I tried it with the one preinstalled, and it seemed really tight, and didnt seat correctly in my opinion. So i removed that seal, and replaced it with the larger one which seems to me to fit better.. These are the inner seals im referring to..I just want to make sure im using the correct size seal as not to have any problems down the road..thanks..

The TruRyde Bearing Kit # BK2-100 that you referenced comes with an inner bearing and race, an outer bearing and race, cotter pin, tang washer and one inner grease seal, a double lip # 10-19. If there was actually an extra component in your kit it is likely that it was included in error.
Bearing kits like this are matched based on your original equipment, specifically the spindle and bearing numbers. This kit is intended for use on a number 84 spindle with bearing set # L44649 / # L68149.
The supplied seal has an inner diameter (at the rubber portion) of 1.719-inches. A brand new grease seal, particularly a double-lip seal such as that included in this kit, can certainly feel tight when installed for the first time. It should, since it has to withstand the pressure of the grease within the hub. Its tighter fit may be especially noticeable when you are removing the old seal that likely has deformed slightly from use and which is now a good bit looser on the spindle.
You should be able to see the seal's reference number 171255 on the rubber portion to confirm you have the correct seal for your number 84 spindle.
For reference I have linked you to two videos that might be helpful as you install these components.
