Can I Install a Brake Controller in a 2015 Fleetwood Providence 42P?

Hello. I have a 2015 fleetwood providence 42p DP w/air brakes I would like to install a electric brake controller for my trailer. I would like to use the Curt brand. But I cannot find any info if it is compatible, installation instructions or anything related. I’ve searched YouTube and online forms. Do you know if I will be able to install this on my coach? Yes, you can definitely install the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller item # C51170 in your 2015 Fleetwood Providence 42P. The question is whether or not you can use the Curt Custom Plug and Play Adapter item # C51322 to have an easy installation or use the Curt Universal Wiring Adapter item # C51515 to hardwire it in.

Your Fleetwood Providence is built on a Ford F-53 chassis. If you have it, the brake controller port is located on the left hand side of one of the steering column supports. The plug is gray in color, and you should be able to see it if you look to the right of the emergency brake release handle.

If you do not have this plug you'll need to use a circuit tester like item # PTW2993 to test the functions of the wires behind your dash. You will need to find the following wires to connect the brake controller:

Black - 12V power (constant power)
Blue - Brake controller output to 7-way
Red - Brake Light switch cold side which will only power on when you hit the brake pedal
White - Ground
