Recommended 5TH Wheel Hitch & Determing If Enough Clearance For 5TH Wheel Towing 2020 Ram 2500 6-1/2

Question:

I am about to make an offer on a used 2021 Grand Design Momentum 320G 5th wheel, but got to thinking I should make sure my my truck as setup is able to tow with the fifth weekly level and also enough bed rail clearance. I would not go the fifth wheel route if I am unable to install an under bed bracket mount so I can still use the bed most frequently for hauling things without rails. Based on my trucks specs and knowledge of this Toyhauler fifth wheel, can you verify if this will work or I should switch direction and go with a trailer toyhauler - please specify the hitch kit you’d recommend for under bed bracket and I see you have recommended installers in my 97756 area code. 2020 Ram Bighorn CrewCab 2500 4x4 w/6.5” bed. I have BFG KO2 35” tires on stock size rims, a 2.75 front level kit by Thuren/Fox and rear power flow lift pump with Firestone adjustable air bags that I currently run at 10 lbs normal and 90lbs with a loaded trailer to keep level - trailer tows great. The top of bed rail is right at 60” over the axle. Thanks for your recommendations before I order.

While I cannot give you a yes or no to verify if you will be able to tow the 2021 Grand Design Momentum 320G with your 2020 Ram 2500, I can give you the information and some options to determine if you will be able to tow level. First for your Ram the only under bed mounted 5th wheel will consist of the B&W Turnover # BWGNRK1320 and B&W Companion # BWRVK3400. The head of the hitch can be adjusted from 17-19" above the bed. You will need to take these measurements on your truck and compare them to the height of the Grand Design as that is not information the manufacturer provides. The seller should be able to take these measurements(height of kingpin & overbed height) for you so you will be able to determine if you will have the required 5-6" of clearance and the 5th wheel be level.

One option you do have if the 5th wheel will not be level is to add the Lift Kit # RR23QX. This will allow you to raise the trailer 1-1/4" or 2-1/4" if the height is that close between your truck and trailer.

If you are still unsure I can help give you a yes or no answer if you can provide me the height of your bed, height of the bed rails and finally the measurements off the trailer from above.
