Recommended Adjustable Ball Mount For A 2023 Mazda CX-9 With Draw Tite 76020 Hitch
Question:
Hello, I recently purchased a hitch from you for my 2023 CX-9 Item # 76020 The hitch is very low and recessed a good bit. I need to get an adjustable receiver to raise the ball. The challenge is how far the receiver is recessed. I own a Weigh Safe adjustable receiver but it doesnt extend out far enough to clear the bumper. Will # C45900 provide the clearance I need?

We do have a potential solution for you, but the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount # C45900 is not going to work with this setup. The Draw Tite Hitch # 76020 is going to be recessed about 6" behind the bumper on the 2023 Mazda CX-9. This is measured from the center of the hitch pin hole, to the farthest edge of the bumper. The Curt ball mount has a vertical support welded to the back of the channel only 4-1/8" from the pin hole. This would contact the bumper before it could be fully inserted into the hitch.
I suggest instead taking a look at the BulletProof Hitches 2-Ball Mount # HD204. This is configured similarly to the Curt ball mount, only longer. The vertical support on the Bulletproof hitch is 6" from the center of the pin hole at the closest point, so this will give you the clearance you need. Bulletproof hitch makes a very solid ball mount.
