If by factory trailer mount you mean a towing bumper, then the Westin Perfect Match Series Rear Step Bumper # 31012 is a fit for all models of the 2001 Dodge Dakota Sport R/T, SLT and base models. My contact at Westin confirmed the fit on the 2001 Dakota Sport.

This factory-style replacement bumper bolts on with included hardware (no drilling required) and provides a 3/4-inch hitch ball hole and a towing capacity of 3000-lbs. With this you can use a 2-inch hitch ball such as # A-82 from Curt. This bumper includes lighting for the license plate.

If you find that your trailer does not sit in a level position when hitched, or if its gross weight is near the 3000-lb maximum towing weight for this bumper, then I suggest you instead opt for a trailer hitch receiver. We offer several 2-inch Class III hitch receivers for your Dakota and all can be seen on the link provided.
All of these hitches offer substantially higher towing capacity (5000-lbs) and will allow you to select a ball mount with the necessary rise or drop to keep your trailer level.
