Can Trailer Axle Spindle be Replaced

Question:

Hi, we have a Prestige single axle boat trailer with actuated brakes. Year 2000. We were getting the bearings, races and seals repacked/replaced, and when our mechanic took the wheel off, he noticed that one of our axles had no threads left on it. He said that whoever did it last time must not have tightened the hub all the way and it rubbed on the axle. It’s torsion. Could you tell us how to repair? Can we buy a new spindle piece or can the existing one we have be repaired? After your response, I can send you a picture. We would appreciate any help, thanks!

You can replace the spindle of your axle but you would need to know the axle capacity to pick out the correct one. For a 3,500 lb axle the correct spindle would be the part # TRU74FR or if you have a 5.2k to 7k axle you'd want the part # TRU37FR.
