Replacement Tires For a 1970 Layton Tandem Axle Travel Trailer With F78-15 and 205/75D15 Tires
Question:
I have a 1970 Layton trailer. 2 axels, gutted. No water, sink. Cabinets etc. The tires say 205/75D15, then F7915ST on 2 tires and F78 in the others. I need to replace them. Is this exactly what Ill need? If they dont have D rated, can I sub a C? Just an example, I have no clue. The max load rating on the tire is 1820lbs.

Helpful Expert Reply:
I recommend replacing all your tires with the Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire. We have this in a Load Range C # AM10244 or D # AM10245. The load range C is rated for 1,820lbs like your current tires while the load range D is rated for 2,150lbs. These tires have a radial construction which is superior to the bias ply tires you currently have. The sizes you are seeing on the tires reflect different tire sizes used during different time frames. They all have the virtually the same size and switching to the new tires ensures they are all the exact same size.
