Can 2022 Honda Pilot Match Curt Hitch Towing Capacity
Question:
The Curt hitch that you show gives a 6000 lb towing capacity to a 2022 Honda Pilot, the manual only rates the capacity at 5000 lbs. How is that accomplished?

The short answer to your question is that it is not possible. A hitch like the Curt # C13146 often has a capacity that exceeds that of the tow vehicle. Occasionally the tow vehicle is capable of more than the hitch. Either way, you're limited by whichever capacity is lower. In this case, the most you can tow is 5,000 lbs because that is the limit of your 2022 Honda Pilot.
Since you will be towing you also need a wiring harness. The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118760 is the most reliable option out there. This plugs into the connection points in the rear cargo area. Once installed, you will have a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights.
If you need a ball mount, check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
I have attached some installation videos below for your reference.
