Hitch, Wiring and Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2013 Dodge Durango
Question:
Hi. I have a 2013 Dodge Durango WITHOUT the factory tow package. I need to install a hitch receiver, a 7 way harness, and a brake controller. What harnesses do i need to do this? Will I need to re-flash my Durango at the dealership or can I just install all of this on my own? Thanks!

Lets start with the hitch, for that our most popular hitch with other owners of Durangos is the Curt Hitch part # C13182. This is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch opening with plenty of capacity. I attached an install video for you to check out.
Next we need wiring. You will need to start with a 4-way. For that I recommend the Curt Upgraded Trailer Wiring Harness part # C65133.
Now you will need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install a brake controller. For that you will need the Trailer Brake Controller Installation kit 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. This comes with everything needed to install a fully functional 7-way and brake controller in your vehicle. Install video and instructions attached as well.
The Curt Triflex Brake Controller part # C24VV that you referenced will install with the # ETBC7 and would be an excellent choice for a brake controller. It has a nearly perfect rating from our customer reviews.
You would not need to reflash your vehicle computer to install any of the above mentioned products either.
