Will Adding 4-Way Wiring To a 2013 Cadillac SRX Risk Damage To The Vehicle?

Question:

i have a 1999 bass tracker trailer with the old style lights. I just purchased a 2013 Cadillac SRX Luxury. I just installed a trailer hitch along with a simple plug in flat plug electric for the lights. Will this fry the computer or affect anything in the Cadillac? I cant get a direct answer from anyone. Thanks for any help.

On your 2013 Cadillac SRX Luxury you want to use a wiring harness with a powered controlled module like the Curt # C59236. This module uses power from the vehicle battery to operate the lights on a trailer and reduces strain put on the factory wiring. By using a basic 4-Way # HM38138 you put all the additional power load for the trailer on the factory tail light wiring. Since manufactures have switched to using the thinnest wire power to save money this will likely overload the wiring and risk damaging the wiring or fuses. This could lead to a possible fire issue.
