Can A Trailer Hitch Be Used On A 2014 Scion xB If There's No Tongue Weight Or Towing Capacity Listed
Question:
I found a perfect fit hitch for my 2014 Scion xB. Most likely, only a bike rack will be used with it. However, vehicle owners manual specifically states that the vehicle is not designed to tow anything or use a hitch to carry even a bike rack. Yet, I see many people seemingly ignoring the manual I assume without issue. Your thoughts?

I checked the online version of the manual as well and it definitely does state that the vehicle is not rated for towing a trailer or cargo mounted hitch accessories so all of the people doing this are essentially taking on any liability in the event that the hitch failed or damaged the vehicle. There's also no listed capacity so it's a gamble on how much weight would cause a failure.
If you're willing to take on this liability then you could install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12490. If you'd prefer not to then you could go with a trunk mounted bike rack instead, like the Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH910XT.
