Why Would Trailer Wiring Harness Cause Taillight of Vehicle to Stay On
Question:
I bought and installed a wiring harness #56282 for my 2016 Toyota Tacoma 6 years ago which has worked perfectly until a month ago. For no apparent reason the right rear taillight came on and would not turn off even with lights turned off and truck ignition off. I disconnected the wire harness adaptor on that side which fixed the light issue. Any suggestions on why the harness caused this issue for the right tail light ?

Expert Reply:
The converter box of the wiring harness shorted out and is now causing the problem you described. Only solution is a new kit as the box is not replaceable or repairable. The current kit for your 2016 Toyota Tacoma is the # C56349.
