Will the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13119 Support a 250 lb Power Wheelchair and Carrier
Question:
will this hitch hold a carrier for a power wheelchair that weighs 250lbs?

Expert Reply:
The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13119, will hold a power wheel chair that weighs 250 lbs as long as the wheel chair carrier does not weigh more than 100 lbs. This trailer hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs which is the maximum weight it can hold when hauling a wheel chair and carrier.
Another factor that you will want to consider is the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle. This trailer hitch was designed to fit the Honda CR-V years 2012 to 2014. I recommend checking your owner's manual or with your local Honda dealer to determine the maximum tongue weight capacity of your vehicle. If the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle is less than 350 lbs, then that will be the limiting factor for your wheel chair and carrier.
To reduce the total tongue weight that you will be carrying, I recommend choosing a lightweight wheel chair carrier like the Flint Hill Goods Cargo Carrier, # FHG69ZR. This is an aluminum cargo carrier with a ramp that weighs 77 lbs. The internal dimensions are 47" long x 27-1/2" wide. You will want to verify that your wheel chair will fit within these dimensions before making a purchase.
I have attached a demonstration video of this cargo carrier for you to check out and an installation video of the Curt trailer hitch on a 2013 Honda CR-V for you to check out.
If you can confirm the maximum tongue weight capacity of your vehicle and send me the year, make and model, I would be happy to give you more specific options.
