Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 10,000 lbs Travel Trailer
Question:
I drive a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 HD and I tow a 2006 Keystone Mountaineer 29ft bumper hitch travel trailer. I am looking for advice on an anti-sway system for this rig. Thank you.

I checked online and it looks like your 2006 Keystone Mountaineer 29ft weighs close to 7,500 lbs but I wasn't able to tell if that was gross weight or dry weight. A 2008 tops out at 10,000 lbs so I am going to make a recommendation based off of that. If I am incorrect go ahead and email me back with your travel trailer's total weight and I will be happy to change my recommendation if necessary.
Weight distribution systems are based off of a trailer's tongue weight. The tongue weight is typically between 10% and 15% of your trailer's total weight. A 10,000 lbs trailer would have a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs. With this in mind I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BXW1500. The SwayPro has a tongue weight range of 1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs so it would be perfect for your trailer.
This system includes a 2" shank and a 2-5/16" hitch ball.
The SwayPro item # BXW1500 controls sway at four different points. This offers the best prevention you can get against trailer sway, helping ensure you have the most controlled and safe towing experience. It is also much quieter than other systems because it uses brackets that connect to lift chains, so you won't hear the loud, metal on metal grinding noise that comes with hitches that use friction-style brackets.
