Would 2,400 lb Rated Transom Straps Have Capacity for a 2,800 lb Boat

Question:

Hi When choosing transom tie downs , the total weight of boat and trailer should not exceed one of the two straps or total strength of both belts added together ? -boat 2800lb -trailer 715lbs Would using two transom belts rated at 2400 lbs each work ? Thanks

Yes, if you used two transom straps that had a break strength of 2,400 lbs your 2,800 lb trailer would be secure. What's interesting is that the weight of the trailer is actually more what the strap would be forced to bare the weight of in the event of an emergency as that's what the boat would actually be lifting with the trailer.
