Recommended B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500
Question:
Hello, I am getting ready to buy a BandW Gooseneck Hitch. But, I think I am confused. I have a 2022 Silverado 2500HD. The GVWR is 10,850. The Gooseneck TWR is 16,520. When I put those two numbers together I get 27,370. However, the GCWR is 24,000. Why would there be a discrepancy of 3,370?

Basically your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 can have more trailer weight on it if you have less weight inside the truck. GCWR of 24,000 lbs is the maximum total combined weight of the vehicle, including passengers, cargo, fuel, and trailer weight. Removing cargo and passengers gives you more capacity for trailer weight.
That may seem like a wide discrepancy at 3,370 lbs but manufacturer's low ball those numbers on gross vehicle weight for the gas mileage ratings. The GVWR is calculated with a driver who weighs around 160 lbs and zero cargo. Not sure it has a full tank of gas either.
The B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck System item # BWGNRK1020, you were looking at, is confirmed to fit both bed lengths of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD so long as you don't have the OEM prep package.
You will need the B&W Companion item # BWRVK3400-5W if you have the short bed or item # BWRVK3500 for the long bed.
If you have the prep package you will want either item # BWRVK3775 for a sliding hitch or item # BWRVK3710 for a standard hitch.
