Is There An Easier Way To Connect A Furnace To The AC Controller Without Running New Wires
Question:
I am installing the FR55PV, including the compressor, fan and thermostat. The problem I have run into is that the original thermostat is analog, and the wiring doesnt match up with the control box. The original thermostat has six wires R, Y, W, GL, GH, B. The old control Mach box has four of those wires B, Y, GH, GL, which are currently hanging out of the hole. The W wire goes the furance, and R is power. The Furrion control box has six wires A, B, 12v, GND, 12vDC, 12vDC Gnd, not including the 2 brown furnace wires and freeze wire. The Furrion thermostat has four of those wires A, B, 12v, GND. Is it possible to make this connection? If so, how? It appears the Furrion thermostat does not directly control the furnace, instead running it through the A/C control box. This is problematic for me, since I dont want to run new wire from the furnace to the A/C, and I do need to run the heater once or twice a year. What solution do you suggest?

When installing the thermostat for the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR55PV you can reuse the old thermostat wires by repurposing them to match up with Furrion functions, but there is no way around running new wires if there isn't enough in place already or in your case for connecting the furnace to the controller. In the attached video John talks about how he had to run extra wiring for the thermostat and would pull down lights in the ceiling to trace the wires through the ceiling without having to cut holes. To do this you'll need a fish tape or fish poles and another person to help push the wires through. If the furnace is really low to the ground you could also just run the wires down through the floor, along the underbelly of the trailer, and back up in the walls up to the controller.
It's most likely not going to be easy but is the only way to properly install the unit and have your furnace and AC operate.
