Do I Need To Remove The Exhaust To Install A Curt Hitch On My 2019 Jeep Cherokee?
Question:
I got a curt 13171 trailer hitch as a gift and tried to install it per the instruction on my 2019 jeep cherokee limited and as per your video but couldnt. It appears that the hitch cant be installed without removing the exhaust. I am confused as it isnt listed in the instructions to do that. I did check around the internet and found a video where the exhaust was removed BUT it was a different manufacturer. I would really appreciate any help you could give on resolving this. Thank you

We did get a chance to install the Curt # C13171 on a 2019 Cherokee. We did not have to move the exhaust at all in this instance. There are other hitches available for the 2019 Cherokee that do require moving the exhaust. For example, the Curt # C13395 did require temporary removal of the exhaust and trimming of the exhaust bezel. However after the hitch is installed the exhaust is raised back in to position. We have not encountered an instance where the exhaust needs to be permanently removed.
I have heard that certain models with dual exhaust will require removal of the exhaust, but we have not seen a dual exhaust model here at our shop as of yet.
I have linked our install video for the Curt # C13395 below if you want to take a look.
