Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2014 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
Greetings, I have a 2014 Toyota 4Runner that has a towing package. But it is not setup to accommodate trailer brakes on my new boat. Can you point me to what is needed to add the trailer brakes to the 4Runner? Thank you

The main thing you're going to need for your 2014 Toyota 4Runner is a brake controller, but if you need the wiring socket at the back of the vehicle as well then I recommend checking out the Hopkins # HM40975 which will plug into the US CAR connector at the back.
Then for a brake controller I really like the Redarc Tow-Pro series because they can be installed virtually anywhere in the vehicle, but Redarc also has the Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-002 for a really clean look in your 4Runner. I recommend going with the Liberty so you'll need these parts:
- Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR
- Plug-and-Play Adapter # RED49FR
Attached is an installation video where we installed this same brake controller on a 2018 4Runner that you can check out!
