Troubleshooting Poor Cooling From A New Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System

Question:

Got my Advent Air 15K AC installed today 7-22-23. I am also running a New Air 6K portable in my 32 5th wheel and have been for about a month. right now it is 93F outside, clear sky, and 83F inside the camper. IMO the new AA 15K is not performing any better than my old 2005 Duo Therm 13.5K, arguably slightly worse. I would come home from work about 4 pm when it was 106 out, clear sky, and it would be 82F inside the camper with the duo therm and newair running.

The temperature sensor for the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System # ADV64FR is located in the digital wall thermostat so if you have it in a placed where there's a vent blowing on it the sensor could think that the RV is cooler than it really is. Most other systems have the sensor located up in the air distribution box and since heat rises it typically gets hot enough to kick on faster. I recommend removing the cover of your air distribution box and checking to see if the coils are freezing up, choking the unit.

If you have any openings in the ceiling that would allow air to escape into the roof of the RV and not run through the vents then you'll want to get some HVAC tape and cover them up to force air through the vents to help cool the trailer.
