Is There a Replacement Hub/Drum For Dexter 8-283?
Question:
I am looking to replace a Dexter 8-283 hub

I have some part recommendations for you as the Dexter 8-283 hub is obsolete. This used a spindle which is also obsolete. I recommend having a new axle put on as it will be easier to upgrade your axle than having new spindles, brakes and hubs installed. Your hubs were used on a 2,800lb axle and going to a 3,500lb axle will be your best option. We have a axle that is 89" # e43SR or 95" # e52SR from hub face to hub face if that matches your current axle. These both include 10" hubs with electric brakes.
If you have a different measurement we do have the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # A35RS545E which places the hub face 6" from the trailer frame. It also includes electric brakes with 10" hubs.
