Trailer Coupler and Hitch Lock Set for a 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon and A-Frame Trailer
Question:
I just installed a class III Hidden Hitch from you guys on our 13 Outback. It went very well, excited I could do it myself. We bought an A-frame pop up camper. Is this product what I need to secure the trailer to the hitch and also secure the trailer when disconnected from TV and at a campground? Any other product recommendations would be appreciated. Besides security on the road, we need to secure the trailer when parked on our city street.

The Master Lock hitch and coupler lock set # 1481DAT includes a coupler lock (the smaller one) that would fit in a hole on a latch style coupler provided that hole is 1/4 inch in diameter (which is industry standard). With the lock in place whether towing or not towing, the latch cannot be opened so it could not come off the ball or be placed on a ball.
I have included a picture that shows the hole in the coupler I mentioned. If you have a different type of coupler this type of lock may not work. Let me know if you have a different type and I can recommend a different lock.
The other lock is a 5/8 inch diameter locking hitch pin that will secure the ball mount in the trailer hitch (or any accessory that fits in the hitch and takes a regular pin). It will fit the Class III hitch you have. With it in place it will prevent the ball mount or accessory from being stolen.
I think this lock set will work well for you and should provide the theft deterrence you need. I linked a video review of this lock set.
