I took a look at the Curt Venturer NEXT Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV and Curt Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers # C51436 that you have. It is a little odd that you have power and it works with the manual over-ride but not with the brake pedal.
My first instinct was that your brake controller port didn't have power, that is somethin that can be a problem on that model and is fixed with the Power Wire Kit # BRK-ELECKIT, but if you have power that isn't it.
Looking at the owners manual, it could be a tripped circuit breaker, no battery connection B+ or ground. It sounds like you have already been troubleshooting those issues. I would be checking the wiring behind the port in your truck, it is possible the port is not working correctly.
Have you tested the brake controller while moving? As in, have you driven the truck while hooked up and have used the manual over-ride to activate the brakes? I'm just curious if you are actually getting brake power, or if the lights on the controller are just activating with teh manual over-ride.
