How to Add a 7-Way Connector to a 2010 Ford Escape
Question:
I have a 2010 ford escape with the factory tow package. The rear of the truck only has the 4 pin trailer connector. I am going to install a new 7 way, but do I need to run an additional wire from the controller to the 7 way, or is there a factory plug/

There isn't a factory plug in play harness available like you're wanting but you will need to use your existing 4-way connector to add a 7-way and run some wires.
To add a 7-way harness to your 2010 Ford Escape you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your Ford with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle, like yours, with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.
You will then connect the blue wire to the blue wire on the brake controller, connect the black wire to the positive post on the Escape's battery, the white wire to ground, and the yellow wire to vehicle's reverse circuit if applicable. This will provide you with the ability to control your trailer's brakes and also provide you with a 12v power wire for you trailer's accessory lights.
I have linked an installation video below we did on a 2011 Escape to help you get this wiring harness set up.
