What is Tongue Weight Capacity of Curt Hitch that Fits 2015 BMW 5 Series
Question:
In regards to the curt hitches, they are listed as 200lb tongue and 2000lb total weight. What is the safety factor on those hitches? Try as much as I can, Ive been moving things around in my trailer for several days Im right at the 200lb tongue weight. Sometimes even slightly over.

Expert Reply:
On Curt hitches like the part # C11381 that have a 200 lb tongue weight capacity we can guarantee that you are totally safe if the tongue weight is up to 200 lbs. Anything beyond that we can't safely recommend. I would assume the rating is at least a little conservative but that doesn't mean we can endorse anything over that number.
