Recommended Bike Rack, Hitch, and Generator Carrier for a 2019 Shasta Phoenix

Question:

I am looking to replace a Lippert hitch I have on the back of my Shasta Phoenix 5th wheel. I want to carry either a generator/box in a carrier or possibly 2 e-bikes. The !!/4 Lippert model I have bolts to C channel welded to the frame. It has a 150 lb tongue weight max. I need at least a 200 lb tongue weight. I have researched the two adjustable models that fit a minimum 681/2 spacing that you carry. The Ultra Fab model and the Stromberg Carlson adjustable model. Both show a 350 lb tongue weight when welded. My setup has a 2x4 tube welded to the frame and a 2x4 C channel welded to the tube steel. The existing hitch is bolted thru the C channel. I have provided pictures. Which setup do you recommend or do you think I’d do better to have a welder manufacture something onsite?

Thanks for the pictures. The Ultra-Fab 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver for Trailer Frames # UF35-946403 you mention would be a great option for you since your trailer frame falls within the adjustable range and it has the beefed up tongue weight capacity you need.

Since you mentioned you'd either like to carry a generator you can use the Mount-n-Lock GennyGo Generator and Cargo Carrier for RV Bumpers # MNT54FR which would bolt to your RVs bumper directly and has a 200-lbs carrying capacity.

This is a simple, easy, and convenient way to carry your generator and would not actually even require a hitch to use. However, if you are planning on hauling two e-bikes you are going to need that hitch for a bike rack.

I recommend checking out the Lets Go Aero V-Lectric FAT PRO Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # LGA77FR.

This bike rack has a maximum carrying capacity of 75-lbs per bike for a total of 150-lbs, and has a sliding base that slides out 22-1/2" away from your RV should you need more clearance.
