Is There A Heating Element Available For An Advent Air AC Unit And How Hard Is The Installation
Question:
Does the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner Item # ACCAR150 have a heating element available? Is the installation replacement of Carrier unit easy not requiring an AC technician? I am very handy when it comes to jobs but I have never done an AC replacement.

To install the heat strip # ACMHD you would need to replace the entire system with all Advent Air equipment in order for it to work. With the # ACCAR135 being just a replacement rooftop unit it wouldn't be able to communicate with the heat strip and function properly.
Replacing your Carrier Air unit is going to be fairly easy, but you'll want a few extra hands to help move the units around and you won't want to drag them across the roof of your RV. You'll start by removing the cover of your air distribution box and then remove the four bolts (one in each corner) that hold the rooftop unit to the roof. Some air distribution boxes can block access to these bolts so your setup may require you to remove more parts before you can access the bolts. From there you'll unplug the wire harness of your old unit from the controller and move it out of the way.
The new unit can be put in place and you'll connect your wiring using the provided adapter and then reinsert the bolts to mount the unit to the roof. Once it's tightened down you'll want to test the unit before putting the air distribution box back together to ensure it's functioning properly. Once you feel it is you can put the air distribution box back together and be done.
