Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch and Rails for a 2023 Ram 3500 w/ Ramboxes Using a Sidewinder Kingpin
Question:
What are the recommended 5th wheel hitches for the Sidewinder RP34FR? I think I understand why Reese would say not to use a B and W Companion with the Center Post / Gooseball Locking Mechanism, but it also says not to use a Q Series Curt hitch either? I am going to be putting the Sidewinder on my 2020 Jayco Seismic 4113. I saw in a previous question that you recommended the RP34FR for a 2019 Seismic 4113, which should have the same MORyde pinbox as my 2020. The hitch will be installed on a 2023 MegaCab Ram 3500 with Ramboxes and the Air Bag Suspension. Thanks!

The best 5th wheel hitch for a Sidewinder pinbox is going to be the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # RP30928. This hitch has a 20,000 lbs capacity. You will also need the Sidewinder Wedge Kit for 20,000-lb Reese M-Series item # RP44FR. This will lock the kingpin inside the Reese M-5 so it doesn't rotate at the 5th wheel hitch.
For a 5th wheel rail kit that is compatible with your 2023 Ram 3500, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails item # RP50085-58. This kit is custom fit to mount in existing holes in your truck's frame. This cuts down on install time.
To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness item # C56070. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
