Recommended Replacement Converter For A Parallax 7300 Series Power Center

Question:

My current power supply is a Parallax 7300 series. It doesnt give an exact model number. The RV is a 30 amp service. What is the correct Progressive Dynamics converter replacement? Steve

Since they didn't list the converter amperage rating on your panel you'll have to just choose the amperage your battery bank requires and then do a bit of investigative work to ensure that the wire gauge used for the converter is enough to handle the load for the new converter. Most of the options I'm seeing for the 7300 series are showing up as a 45 amp converter, which is pretty standard for most trailers.

The Progressive Dynamics Replacement Section for AC/DC Power Distribution Panel - 45 Amp # PD4645V you were looking at could make this an easy swap out, but you'll want to first verify the space you have for the converter in your panel. This one is 13-1/4" long x 8" deep x 5-3/8" wide. You would also want to verify that you have at least 6 gauge wire running from the converter to the battery to handle the load.

If this doesn't fit then you could disconnect the old one and install a new converter like the Progressive Dynamics 9200 Inteli-Power Converter # PD9245C. For this you'd just need to run a dedicated outlet and circuit to power the unit and then connect it to the battery using 6 gauge wire. I typically try to install these pretty close to the battery to make the run shorter so that you won't have to worry about voltage drop.
