What Is the Black Wire For on the Replacement Control Module for Lippert Electric Coach Steps?

I am installing LCI STEP CONTROL MODULE 164889 but only get incremental movements of the step. What is the single black wire with no connector for?

The single black wire on the Replacement Control Module for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301702 is used for the step light.
The green wires to ground, one grounds the chassis, the other one grounds to the steps and the purple wire is for the step light switch.
Since your steps are only working partly that would indicate to me that there may be a grounding issue. I recommend checking out your grounds and ensuring they are secured properly. It wouldn't hurt to go through your connections again and make sure everything is wired correctly and that there are no damaged wires.
