Recommended Ball Mount and 4-Way Wiring For a 2017 VW Golf With EcoHitch Receiver # 306-X7309
Question:
I bought an eco hitch for my 2017 Vw Golf non R or GTI and it has been doing great as a bike rack. Im looking to do a little towing and know the tow kit I need, but what about a 2 hitch with a rise? What part number do you guys recommend? How much rise do I need to look at? Thank you

When we installed the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7309 on a 2017 Volkswagen Golf we found the receiver height to be 11". This may be different on your vehicle depending on trim level and tire size. With most small trailers having a coupler height around 16", I recommend using the Cushioned Ball Mount # AMSC6. This has a 4-3/4" rise and the cushioned design will help to reduce vibration/shock transfer from the trailer to your Golf. You will need either a 1-7/8" Ball # C40002 or 2" Ball # C40004 to match your trailer coupler.
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118646 will give you 4-way flat connector. This is the common connector used on most small trailer you may tow. It can also be used with your bike rack to add Auxiliary Lights # C53201 in the event your bikes impair the view of your tail lights.
