Parts Needed To Convert 5TH Wheel With Tandem 7K Axles To Disc Brakes and 17-1/2" Wheels Oil Lubed

Question:

I have a 5th wheel camper with tandem 7000 pound axles with drum brakes. I want to change over to disc brakes and change to 17.5 wheels with 9/16 studs and oil hubs. The wheels I am looking at are hub piloted with a hub diameter of 4.77. Do you have a complete kit for this? If not can you provide a list of parts.

The Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD33FR are the brakes you will need to convert your 7,000lb axles to use disc brakes. This kit provides the brake assemblies for one axle so you will need 2 kits for your 5th wheel. It fits a standard #42 spindle with a 2.25" Oil Seal # XLPROLUBE2440SEAL. If your axles have the smaller 2.125" seal you will need 2 of the Seal Kits # RG06-090 to fit your axle. If you can provide me with the serial numbers off your Dexter axles I can verify the seal size. The brakes use a integral hub/rotor and have the 9/16" wheel studs you are wanting. The hub has the 4.75" measurement needed to run your 17.5" wheels with the 4.77 pilot hole.

You will also need a Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HBA16 along with a Brake Line Kit # HS496-252 to power the disc brakes. This particular brake kit has a 25' main line. The main line can be trimmed and flared to fit your camper if the line needs to be shortened. You can typically borrow a brake line flare tool at a local auto parts store. If you are using a factory brake controller you may need an Adapter Module # HBA-CAM to work correctly with the electric over hydraulic equalizer.

Be sure to get some extra Caps # KPCAP and Oil # XLPROLUBE as the caps can become damaged and loose the oil inside the hubs.
