Fifth Wheel Hitch Using Underbed Mounting Rails for 2014 Ram 2500

Question:

I have a new 2014 RAM 2500 SLT regular cab with 8foot bed. I am planning on getting a 5th wheel but dont want the rails in the bed. Does anyone make a 5th wheel, below bed, receiver mounting kit ? I have heard that the frame changed between 2013 and 2014 so know one has kits yet.

B and W has a solution that would allow you to install a fifth wheel hitch with an underbed mounting system.

Their Companion # BWRVK3500-5W fifth wheel hitch would install into their Turnover Ball Gooseneck, part # BWGNRK1384-5W. When the fifth wheel hitch is removed, you would have full, unobstructed use of your truck bed. You would also have the advantage of being able to tow a gooseneck trailer if the need should arise. This will only be a solution if your truck has coil springs in the rear. My research indicates that all Ram 2500 models have rear coil springs, but you will still want to check to be sure. This is the only underbed mounting option available for the 2014 Ram 2500.

If for some reason your truck has a rear leaf spring suspension, you would need to use mounting rails mounted above the bed, like those supplied with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Install Kit, part # C16427-104. The kit uses industry standard fifth wheel rails that would be compatible with fifth wheel hitches from Curt, Draw-Tite, Reese, Husky or Valley.

If you don't already have a 7-way connector installed in your truck bed, you can install one using part # 41157.
