Tips For Getting Brake Sensor of Tekonsha ZCI Harness To Work On 2006 Land Rover Range Rover
Question:
I have a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover HSE that I have installed a Tekonsha ZCI trailer wiring kit on. Everything is working except the brake lights on the trailer will not come on. I have checked the trailer lights and they are fine. I have spoken with tech support at Tekonsha and they are telling me different things that are not working. They first said to turn the brake sensor around so it faced away from the tail light and then go through the learning process, this did not work. Then they said to totally disconnect the brake sensor and do the learning process, again this did not work....Any suggestions ?

If you've already done the learning process after removing the sensor and reinstalling it then there's really only two things to check.
First is pretty easy, just remove the brake sensor and swap it with another sensor, either of the turn signal ones that are currently work.
See if now you have brake lights lighting up as turn signals. If it does this then we know the harness is correct and it's just not hooked up to the correct wire of your 2006 Land Rover Range Rover.
If it still doesn't work then the issue is likely within the sensor and you'll need to do a warranty exchange assuming it's still within the warranty period.
You can also use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the brake wire you're hooked to to confirm it's the right wire to be hooked to. Sometimes there is more than one wire with the brake signal, but they don't all work right. Luxury cars like yours tend to have some pretty weird wiring.
