Where Do Blue Ox Base Plate Arms Protrude on 2012 Mini Cooper Clubman

Question:

I want to buy a Blue Ox tow bar and baseplate to fit a 2012 Mini Cooper Clubman with manual transmission and FWD. The Clubman does not have the mesh lower grill as most of the product line does. Rather, it has horizontal plastic slats with a chrome/plastic horizontal trim piece which bisects the lower grill. My question is where in the lower grill do the mounting plate pieces protrude? From your install videos, it looks like the chrome bar will be in the middle of the areas to cut out.

I have added a photo for you from the instructions showing the location where the base plate arms protrude on your 2012 Mini Cooper Clubman after installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1307.

As you can see, you will have to trim the chrome piece on your Mini so the arms have a place to extend out for the tow bar to attach. Speaking of the tow bar, you'll need that along with the wiring and braking systems to flat tow your '12 Clubman, and I'll go ahead and list out below what you need:

- Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7380

- Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267

- Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251

- Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit # DM66VR
