Troubleshooting A Furrion Tankless Water Heater That Isn't Producing Hot Water

Question:

I have the furrion instant hot water heater in a new Grand Design. Similar to another post I have power to the thermostat and therefore power to the unit. Unit does nothing when hot water is turned on. No clicking, no fan nothing. I assume if I had fuel issues it would try to start and then I would get an error code. The heat and propane range both work. Any ideas what may be causing the issue.

It is very odd for the main unit to not work while the thermostat for your Furrion Tankless Water Heater # FR93FR does and not get any error codes. Assuming that this is brand new and hasn't worked yet I would first check the water lines to make sure the factory actually installed them correctly and didn't hook the output line into the cold water lines instead of the hot water lines. Seems like something that shouldn't have to be checked, but you'd be surprised.

From there I would check the power and ground to ensure that the unit is properly grounded and that it's receiving 12 volts DC power. The thermostat is one of the smaller components here so it could be getting just enough to function, but not enough to actually communicate with the main unit and tell it to start heating up.

If you didn't have gas flowing to unit then it would give you an error so we can most likely rule this out, but it wouldn't hurt to check the gas pressure as well. Try running the stove and see if it gives you any issues. If so, I would have a technician take a look a the regulator.

Other than checking the power, gas, and water pressure there isn't really anything else you can do besides pulling the fuse and waiting a bit for the unit to fully power down and reset. If the problem persists then you may have an issue with an internal sensor or switch that senses when water is being called and would need to reach out to Furrion directly for warranty replacement.
