Parts Needed To Install 7-Way To Power Curt Echo On 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe
Question:
Adding a photo to my previous question. 2018 Santa Fe with the larger engine that can tow 5K. Was pulling a small tear, under 2K, did not use my brake controller. Now have a slightly larger camper and want to use my Curt Echo Mobile wireless controller model 51180. I have a Samsung Galaxy 10 phone. In the photo the 4 way to 7 way has a green, yellow, and black connector - lights work fine. Phone wont connect thru Echo app. There are 4 additional wires - white, purple, blue and black. Do I need to run one of those to my battery to get voltage to the connector at 1 oclock on the 7 way? Thanks.

The reason your Curt Echo # C51180 is not working is because it doesn't have 12V power. When you connected the 4-way to the 7-way adapter all it did was carry over the 4-way functions. This is also why your lights still work. The black wire coming off the the 7-way adapter should be the 12V power wire, which runs to the pin in the 1 o'clock position you described.
In order to make this happen, you can use the Power Wire Kit for Electric Trailer Brake Controllers - 12 Gauge # BRK-ELECKIT. This is essentially our # ETBC7L without the adapter. I have attached an installation video below so you can follow along. Once completed, your Curt Echo should work without any issues.
