Replacement Tires For a Tandem Axle Horse Trailer With ST205/85R15 Load Range D Tires

Question:

I have a horse trailer GVW of about 5000 pounds we use it for transferring cattle weighing anywhere from 600 pounds to 2200 pounds. It is a double axel trailer with worn out tires and I was wanting to purchase 5 Kenda tires load rating D. Presently, it has ST2058515s and they are not safe. What would be your recommendation? TY!

You are either going to need the Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10245 or Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10256. With your current 205/85R15 being a odd size you will want to measure to determine which size tires will work best for you.

The 205/85R15 is 28.7" in diameter and 8.1" wide.
The 205/75R15 is 27.1" in diameter and 8.1" wide.
The 225/75R15 is 28.3" in diameter and 8.9" wide.

The 225/75R17 is going to be the best option as long as you have enough clearance for the wider tires to fit and still have 1" of clearance on each side.
