Recommended Ladder Rack w/ Cantilever and Tonneau Cover for a 2020 Ram 1500 w/ a 5-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

Hi, Im looking for the right combination of ladder rack over cab and tonneau cover for my 2020 Ram 1500 Crew Cab, 5.7 bed. I need to carry longer ladders so I do need the over cab feature no matter what rack I get. But I also need a tonneau cover that will work with the rack. Do you have a specific combination to recommend? Many thanks!

The best combination of tonneau cover and compatible ladder rack, with the cab over feature, for your 2020 Ram 1500 is going to be the TruXedo Sentry CT Hard Tonneau Cover item # TX1585916 and the Thule T-Rac Pro2 Truck Bed Ladder Rack w/ Cantilever item # TH37003XT-EX.

The TruXedo Sentry CT Hard Tonneau Cover item # TX1585916 is custom fit for your Ram 1500's 5-1/2' bed. The roll-up cover is made of a five layer fabric and thick aluminum slats. It latches at your tailgate and the middle of the truck bed for additional security. You will want to go with a roll up cover so you can have full access to your bed and not hit your ladder rack uprights.

If you have the multi function tailgate you will need the TruXedo Sentry CT Hard Tonneau Cover item # TX96FR instead of the item # TX1585916.

The Thule T-Rac Pro2 Truck Bed Ladder Rack w/ Cantilever item # TH37003XT-EX mounts in your Ram's stake pockets without drilling or blocking the tonneau cover. It has a 1,000 lbs capacity and sits 29-1/8" above your bed side.

The reason you want to go with this combo over one that installs in t-slots or channels is capacity. The capacity of this ladder rack is more then three times what a Retrax pro and Yakima combo would be. This is because the Pro2 mounts directly to the side of your bed not on top of the tonneau cover.

I have linked a couple of review videos below so you can see these parts in action.
