Curt will not release the specific information about how they build their Trailer Hitch Receiver # 11164 as it would allow anyone to attempt to fabricate their own receiver rather then buy theirs or go through their own fabrication and testing. Curt has tested this receiver to be strong enough when installed properly to support up to 200lbs of tongue weight and 2,000lbs of trailer weight on your 2006 Audi A4. Be sure not to exceed any of the manufacturer specifications from Audi for towing or hitch weight.
I recommend installing a 4-Way # C59496 when you install the receiver. This is needed if you will be towing a small trailer or if any hitch mounted accessory you are carrying impairs the view of your vehicle tail lights. It will allow you to add Auxiliary Lights # C53201 in this situation.
