Is There a Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2011 Volvo V50 Rated For More Than 200LBS of Hitch Weight?
Question:
Im looking for a class II hitch that will fit a 2011 Volvo V50 - R Type. I see you have a class 1 in stock, but Im looking for a tongue rating of 280 lbs. Please advise if you have any generic fit options that you think may work. Thank you!

Looking at the owners manual for your 2011 Volvo V50 it says the maximum recommended tongue load for any receiver is 165lbs. As this is even less than the Curt # C11438 is rated this would explain why there is only a class I receiver available. Curt does have a note "***DO NOT EXCEED VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED TOWING CAPACITY.***" as well in their instruction manual linked below.
If you still want to find another option you should contact a fabrication shop in your area so they can inspect your vehicle to determine if they feel they can fabricate a receiver which will have enough strength to hold the 280lbs of weight you are looking to carry.
