Bike Rack For EBike When Flat Towing

Question:

Hi - looking for a heavy duty e-bike rack 2 bikes that is rated for use on a flat towed Jeep Wrangler. Spare tire is 17 from hitch pin to rear side of tire. Would like to find a platform rack that will clear the tire bike will clear it too. Its okay if rack cant be folded to the upright position due to the spare tire - I just want to make sure its rated for the weight and type of use behind a motorcoach/tow vehicle and that the bike will clear the tire.

There are no platform bike racks for ebikes that are able to clear a 17 inch spare tire, but what you may be able to do is use a dual hitch adapter while flat towing your Wrangler. This depends on the rise/drop you need but an example is the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 2-1/4" Rise/Drop # RM-077-2.

Then you could put the tow bar in the bottom receiver and a bike rack in the top receiver, one that is rated for use behind a motorhome, like the Swagman Current # S64678 or Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR.

If the 2-1/4" rise/drop isn't correct, I have added a link below to our entire selection which have different amounts of rise/drop. You'll also need to secure the tow bar adapter, which you can do with Hitch Lock # e98880.
