Correct Way to Angle Lippert Shock Kit on Single Axle Trailer

Question:

Dexter #3500, 2 3/8 inch axle. I see lots of questions but corresponding instal instructions dont match. On a single axle what direction does the shock point? Leaning forward or leaning to the rear. The diagrams in all your answers show tandem axle, one pointed one way, the other going the opposite direction. The pics show left hand holding shock. That is to the front

According to the installation instructions for the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks # LC281255 you need to follow this note:

- NOTE: Mount shocks pointing outward (Fig.7) (away from the shackle kit, equalizer and/or center point) to get the best performance from the shocks.

So you'll want the bottom of the shock facing the center of your trailer for a single axle application. Your axles should be behind the center of your trailer so I believe you'll want the bottom of the shock closer to the front of your trailer.
