The first base rail (closest to the tailgate) from your custom-fit kit will need to be installed 26-3/8" from the end of the bed. This means you'll measure from the end of the bed floor to the edge of the first base rail. I typically get it in place and then use a paint marker to mark out my bolt hole locations to begin drilling.
Once the first rail is in place you can either measure from the center of the base back towards the cab 22" for the center of the rear base rail or you can set up your Curt E16 # C16115 in the first base rail and use it as a guide for the rear base rail. The jaws of the # C16115 should line up with your axle to help evenly distribute the weight of your trailer.
I've attached a short installation video for the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16420-204 to help walk you through the process.
