Base Plates For 2008 Lincoln MKX With Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar

Question:

Our friend is giving us his Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar which uses a Roadmaster base plate. I know we will need a base plate. But I have also heard there is some type of quick disconnect so the ugly apparatus doesnt have to remain on the tow vehicle when not being towed. Can you tell me everything I will need to buy to go with the tow bar to make my 2008 Lincoln MKX towable with a disconnect feature. Thank you.

We do carry base plates for your 2008 Lincoln MKX with the Roadmaster Falcon tow bar. I recommend the Roadmaster Base Plates, part # 4408-1. These are designed to fit any RoadMaster tow bars and the front arms, on the base plate kit are simple to remove, using hitch pins. Once the front arms have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible.

There are some other items you will need to complete your towing package. Next, you will need safety cables as required by law. I recommend the RoadMaster 68 inch Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-643.

You will also need a lighting kit. I recommend the Tail Light Isolating Diode System with Wiring Harness, # 38955.

You will also need a supplemental brake system when towing your Lincoln. I recommend a system like the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System, part # RM-8700. You would also need a brake light relay kit like part # RM-88400. This keeps your towed cars brake signal from overriding the turn signal sent by your towing vehicle.

Some all wheel drive or two wheel drive vehicles, could be damaged when towed. You will need to check with the manufacturer for instructions on the proper procedure for towing your vehicle to prevent any damage.

I have attached some links to videos and some helpful articles for flat-towing vehicle.
