Brake Controller and 7-Way Wiring Recommendation for a 2022 Toyota Highlander

Question:

2022 Toyota highlander with factory installed four bar flat connection. Would like to have the seven connector that will control electric brakes on a trailer. Is there a set up that I would not have to rewire everything and be able to plug right into the four-way flat that would control the electric breaking?

The best solution for your application is to add our 7-Way Upgrade kit to your 2022 Toyota Highlander and use the Curt Echo In-Line controller:

The upgrade kit plugs into your current 4-Way and comes with a power lead so you can connect to the battery for the needed 12V power. Since the Curt Echo only needs the trailer light functions (which are already present on your current 4-Way) and the 12V power you'll be avoiding cutting and splicing into wiring under your dash.

The Echo works by connecting to your phone and then you make performance adjustments with the app. Once everything is setup how you want it you can get the Manual Override Button # C83HR to manually activate the brakes in an emergency situation so you can put the phone away. The brakes will continue to act according to your settings unless you manually override them.
